They do not affect the use and are purely cosmetic. 1 is above the favorites button and the other next to the broil button. The circuit boards could be removed and mounted into your black housing or a metal rail could be attached all the way over the flange.

Removed from a Maytag electric range with a burned out bake element. The plastic was very thin way too thin in those places and broke easily upon removal. Also, the white overlay has a couple of scratches or better described as gouges see pictures. At the right angle and light they are not seen.
